The Indonesian Next Generation Journalist Network on Korea is a platform for aspiring professional journalists in Indonesia to gain deeper insights on Indonesia-Korea relations that are still less touched on due to limited access to information.

In 2026, the program will bring together ten (10) selected journalists to participate in a substantive and capacity-building program. Journalists will take part in a series of workshops in Jakarta, where they will have the opportunity to engage in in-depth discussions with Indonesian and Korean scholars, policymakers, and practitioners. The program will allow the journalist to spend a week-long visit to Korea at the end. During the program, journalists are encouraged to enter the public discourse through article analysis publications. The objective is to improve Indonesians’ understanding of Korea by incorporating a discussion on Korean Affairs and Indonesia-Korea relations into public discourse. This year, the program will also feature a series of capacity-building workshops aimed at equipping and strengthening the selected journalists with relevant skills in the field of journalism.

The objectives of this program are:

• Strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation between Indonesia and South Korea by leveraging the role of the media in increasing public knowledge and understanding of Korea in Indonesia;

• Provide journalists with the time and resources they need to obtain a thorough understanding and relevant knowledge of Indonesia-Korea-related issues;

• Facilitate an open and constructive dialogue between Indonesian Journalists and Korean experts or practitioners;

• Establish a pool of committed Indonesian Journalists with a shared interest in Korean Issues.
